Dear Subscriber of SAFO News,

You can see the full program for our 3rd SAFO workshop titled ‘Enhancing animal health security and food safety in organic livestock production systems’ on the workshop homepage. It is still possible to register for the workshop, if you want to attend. Follow the instructions on the webpage.
Abstract collection for the 3rd workshop already available at the website
At the web page, you can find the abstracts (pdf) for the presentation at the 3rd SAFO workshop in Poland.
Summaries from the 2nd SAFO-workshop ready in most languages
At the website, short (4 page) summaries from the 2nd workshop are now available in most languages. We expect that the remaining summaries will be ready and uploaded in the next few weeks. Partners modify these summaries so they fit well into Newsletters, farmers’ press journals and other relevant national journals of agriculture, veterinary science and food safety.
Research collaboration meeting in connection to the 3rd SAFO workshop
On Sunday the 19th September, we will have a meeting in Warsaw where two main themes will be discussed: 1) Possibilities for joint research proposal across countries, and 2) Possibilities for collaboration between existing projects. So far, this meeting is planned to take place in the morning; more details will be uploaded on the web site in late August. At the web site there is space for research project descriptions and descriptions of funding possibilities. Feel free to email to our webmaster and ask Claus to upload your research project description or research proposal at SAFO's web page for Research Collaboration.
Standard development work
In the SAFO network, our Standard Development Group is working these days to collect information from all partner countries about the implementation of the European Standards, including which constraints are making the implementation difficult. All partners are asked to fill in a questionnaire about the relevant standards, and the implementation in connection to the different animal species. This will be collected, analysed and presented in the next standard development report.
Other meetings
We have received a call for papers (pfd) to the international congress on Organic Farming, Food Quality and Human Health, which is to be held in Newcastle, UK in January 2005. You can find much more information on www.qlif.org
Furthermore, we have received an invitation (pdf) to the 4th International IAVH-Workshop "Homeopathy in Organic Herds" from 8 to 10 October 2004 at Herrsching in Germany.
Kind regards,
Mette Vaarst
