SAFO Workshop Proceedings

Instructions to the authors



Submission

Please submit your paper before the Workshop as an e-mail attachment to m.hovi@reading.ac.uk or, latest, at the Workshop on a diskette.


Reviewing

The papers will be reviewed by the editors of the proceedings. The papers will be returned to the authors for revision before final publication.


Format

The text should be written using Microsoft Word 6.0/7.0/Word 97/Word 2000 or any Word version above that. Please contact Malla Hovi (details below) if you have any special requirements or do not have access to Word.

  • Page set-up: A 3 cm margin should be applied (top, bottom, left, right).
  • The title should be in CAPITALS AND BOLD.
  • The authors should be indicated as follows: Author, A. A., Author, B. and Author, C. C.
    • Every authors’ contact details are required in the same order as the authors appear on the list (the contact author should be indicated with an * if different from the first author).
    • The contact details for the contact author should include the following, in the following order: full postal address, telephone number, fax number and e-mail address.
    • The other authors details should only include the name of the institute and address.
  • The language of the text should be in English.
  • Use Times New Roman size 12 font and 1 line spacing throughout the text.
  • The whole document should be fully justified.
  • There should be one line space between paragraphs and end of text and a new subheading.
  • The subtitles within the text should be in bold and without numbering
  • The start of paragraphs should not be indented
  • The references in the text should appear as follows:
    • …(Smith and Brown, 1996) or …Smith and Brown (1996)… as appropriate, with an additional letter a, b, c, when more than one paper by the same author(s) is included. If more than two authors, cite them as Smith et al. (note italics).
  • The references in the reference list should appear as follows:
  • Author, A. A., Author, B. B. and Author, C. C. (Year) Title of paper. Name of Journal (in Italics), Volume (in bold): page numbers.
  • All references in the list should be cited in full, with the names and initials of ALL authors in bold.
  • List references at the end of the paper in alphabetical order of the surname of the first author, and then in date order.
  • Examples:

BMLFUW (2001). Grüner Bericht 2000: Bericht über die Lage der österreichischen Landwirtschaft 1999. Bundesministerium für Land- und Forstwirtschaft, Umwelt und Wasserwirtschaft, Wien.

  • All tables, graphs and figures should be imbedded in the text in the place the author would like them to appear.
  • Photographs are acceptable as illustrations if submitted in electronic format, as jpg-files. The authors are reminded that colour photographs will appear as black and white in the printed proceedings.
  • There is no limit to the number of pages for presented papers. However, submissions are likely to be edited if excessively long (>10,000 words). The maximum length of poster papers is four A4 pages.
